Joel Palyga

Joel is very excited and humbled to be the 1L Representative to PBSC UCalgary. Joel completed his undergraduate studies through Athabasca University where he majored in political science and minored in philosophy. Joel also completed his degree while working as a full-time police officer with the Calgary Police Service. Joel decided to switch focus and come law school for two fundamental reasons: 1) he loves the law and the challenges that arise from it, and 2) he wants to make a greater impact throughout the community through the legal profession. As such, Joel was naturally drawn to PBSC because of the challenges and opportunities it brings to meet these reasons. Away from all the hustle, you will find Joel spending time with his wife of three years and one year old son, one dog (aptly named Camper to correspond with their love of the mountains), and one feisty cat (aptly named Luna by Joel's wife).
